Just five years after meeting, Dolce and Gabbana showcased their first women’s designer clothing collection in Milan in 1985. From there were then invited to a fashion show aimed at launching new talents. In their early years, there inspiration came from Sophia Loren and Anna Magnani. Their first collection was mostly handmade.

By 1989 they had inked a deal with the Kashiyama group and opened their first designer clothing boutique in Japan. Two years later their first men’s collection was born. Forerunners in fashion, they introduced corset dresses, gangster style pinstripes and tailored black suits.

Madonna chose Dolce & Gabbana to design costumes for her ‘The Girlie Show’ in 1993. Soon after, they were chosen to create costumes for Whitney Houston in 1999.

Known not just for their designer clothing, they have an eyewear and sunglasses collection, a jewelry collection, a fragrance collection, an underwear collection, and finally a custom-made travel case collection for men.

Currently, Dolce & Gabbana is one of the highest sought after designer clothing lines and only promises to get better.
